FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why Robb Archie Is Running For Assembly District 26?
"After receiving so many phone calls, e-mails, and having so many positive conversations whenever I'm out in public, it's clear to me that the people who supported me in 2008 are very interested in my campaign for the Assembly in 2010. I'm running to bring much needed accountability to the process and to reconnect government with the voters. The future does not have to look like the past. I do not agree with the most crucial decisions that were made in the 2009 Legislative Session and I will work to reverse those decisions that were misguided, and put Nevada, Washoe County and District 26 back on the road to economic prosperity. We do need government services, like roads, however, there should not be an endless guarantee that the cost to the taxpayer goes up every single year, without any approval required. The marketplace should determine the price, and we have an RFP system in Nevada that protects the taxpayer, and it doesn't operate in Washington D.C."

Why do you want to repeal the annual gas tax increase?
"I believe that Washoe County voters did not know they were approving annual gas tax increases without any further voter approval needed. The advisory question and SB201 used language that only a lawyer can understand, until you start paying at the pump (annual increases in Washoe County are now based upon the annual increase in the Producer Price Index for Highway and Street Construction, published by the United States Department of Labor). It's not right that the cost of Highway and Road Construction in places like New York and New Jersey should automatically mean a tax increase in Nevada. That's a discussion we need to have at the Nevada Legislature. Government officials in Washington D.C. should not be deciding how much we pay in local gas taxes, without any input from Washoe County voters, now and in the future. Whomever made that decision has some explaining to do."

What should we do about the estimated 12 million illegal aliens in America?
I do not support illegal immigration. Throughout our history foreign born residents have made great contributions to America’s growth and prosperity. Their entry and assimilation has always been managed by our legal system and those who came here in previous generations have always chosen to make America their primary country of citizenship rather than taking what America has to offer with no intention of becoming citizens.  We need immigrants, we just want legal immigrants!

We start that process by enforcing the laws we already have. Ultimately we manage it by those immigrants who want to become American citizens, favoring those who follow the rules and not rewarding behavior with a move to the front of the line!

Illegal immigrants use our emergency rooms as primary care facilities as our hospitals cannot refuse them care, while we as citizens must go to urgent care facilities and get a referral first as mandated by our HMO insurance coverage. America cannot be the HMO to the world! The cost of illegal immigration to our schools, justice system and our healthcare system is just too great. In January, 2008, Arizona enacted tough new immigration laws severely penalizing businesses for hiring illegal aliens. The result has been stunning. Within a short few months the illegal immigrants have left Arizona’s schools are now less crowded, English is not the second language, and hospitals teetering on the brink of collapse are making an economic comeback. I will support similar legislation in Nevada.
