Let's focus on what's most important for Nevadans in District 26 . . . THE ISSUES

NO MORE TAXES!
The Nevada State legislature is out of control in its increased taxing and spending. Nevadans are taxed enough! With food and fuel prices rising every day people are truly struggling. People in my district are tired of paying higher taxes. The state needs to budget within their means. Families do it, businesses do it, but our state government can’t, or won’t. Why?  Because, they do not have to earn that money like we do. The State Legislature needs conservative fiscal control. I will fight for you and vote on your behalf to stop out-of-control spending. If we as families have to tighten our belts when times get tough, then so should our government!

ANNUAL GAS TAX INCREASE - REPEAL IT!
"I believe that Washoe County voters did not know they were approving annual gas tax increases without any further voter approval needed. The advisory question and SB201 used language that only a lawyer can understand, until you start paying at the pump (annual increases in Washoe County are now based upon the annual increase in the Producer Price Index for Highway and Street Construction, published by the United States Department of Labor). It's not right that the cost of Highway and Road Construction in places like New York and New Jersey should automatically mean a tax increase in Nevada. That's a discussion we need to have at the Nevada Legislature. Government officials in Washington D.C. should not be deciding how much we pay in local gas taxes, without any input from Washoe County voters, now and in the future. Whomever made that decision has some explaining to do."

ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION
I do not support illegal immigration. One of the most serious impediments to finding a solution to illegal immigration is that the public has lost confidence in the security of our borders. Until the government secures our borders there can be no solution. The cost of illegal immigration to our healthcare system, schools and justice system is too great. It is difficult to believe in the rule of law when our own government openly undermines it.

HELP OUR BUSINESSES CREATE MORE JOBS!
Eliminate the payroll tax (Nevada's hidden backdoor income tax)! I am pro-business. Today's small businesses spend an astonishing 75% of their time meeting ever-growing government regulations that always equate to paying more and more taxes. Over-regulation and increased taxes are costing all of us increased prices on products and services, and most of all, jobs. Having been a small business owner most of my life I understand how tough it is to be in business. Thirty years ago, a small business owner spent 90% of his time promoting and growing his business with only 10% of it fulfilling and meeting the requirements of government regulations. Our businesses are overregulated and overtaxed. Make no mistake; overregulation is costing all of us increased prices and lost jobs. I will fight to reduce and even repeal these unfair regulations and burdensome taxes.

MAKE OUR LEGISLATURE ACCOUNTABLE!
During the last legislative session, an overwhelming amount of new taxes were passed and yet the budget still fell short this past February. This prompted the governor to call a special session to deal with the budget crisis of an almost $1 billion shortfall. As always, increased taxes were part of the solution. In the 2011 session, Democrats are threatening to raise even more taxes on corporations and small businesses to meet what they believe may be an even larger budget shortfall of $2 billion or more. They don't get it. We need to stop the spending! Nevada risks losing small businesses who can no longer take the burden of overtaxation. I will vote on responsible and necessary legislation and fight to remove existing legislation and taxes that cripple our economy, destroy small businesses and undermine the freedom of our people.

PROTECT OUR SENIOR CITIZENS!
The greatest generation! These are the people we should be asking for advice! Who would know more about saving and using resources wisely than our senior citizens? Having survived the great depression and WWII these folks are a wealth of information and sound advice. We need to protect our elderly against physical and mental abuse as well as neglect and financial ruin.

THE FUTURE DOES NOT HAVE TO LOOK LIKE THE PAST!

We will not change Nevada by sticking with the same failed policies and the same people who created them. Too many Republican candidates run like Ronald Reagan, but when elected, govern like Jimmy Carter! We must make sure our Republican candidates are true conservatives! Nevada needs real solutions and that means electing true conservative Republicans that will change the way we do business. We must replace the failed systems of the past with a government that is accountable to the people and delivers efficiency and performance as Nevadans have come to expect.
